So, today was the party. We have been very excited about this event for quite a while now. While in Breckenridge Teigue constantly asked if we would be home in time. "Is it this much away?" he asks while holding up 10 fingers...his way of calculating time, distance, weights, amounts..."Is Gongol's birthday tomorrow?" No Teiguee it's on Sunday. "Will we be back in time for Gongol's birthday?" Yes, Teiguee. This was a constant conversation. It was a nice reprieve from the constant "Who is stronger T Rex or King Kong?" debate that we have on a daily basis.
In order to get ready for the party, we needed to make cards and wrapping paper. Sure, I could buy a card and paper, but the kids love painting, glue and glitter (and I really did not want to go to Target) so we went the homemade route instead. Much more fun.
In making the cards, we discovered that more glue is better. Beans make a great decoration, as do the sponge tips from our Bingo Markers. The wrapping paper taught us that all colors should be mixed together (Teigue) but using one color at a time, and only one finger, is good too (Jayno). The greatest lesson we learned, however, was that paint is much more fun when applied to your skin than the paper. Then you have to run around and be crazy. Oh, and paint in the eyes appears to be quite painful and ends all fun.
How was the party? Really really fun. They had a bounce house and games with candy as prizes. How is that not a success? I of course left my camera at home, but luckily Anja and Grandma Kay got some really cute pictures. As soon as they send them to me, I will post them.
We did have a scare today, though. Stella hadn't napped all day so she was quite exhausted when we left. On the way to get dinner I noticed that she had fallen asleep, or I thought she was asleep. She had her eyes half open and when Brady talked to her and grabbed her arm, she did not respond. I immediately pulled over and yanked her out of her seat. After a moment, she woke up and was fine. What we think happened was she was asleep, but with her eyes half open. She was acting like she was asleep, except for the open eyes. She was acting normal after (and before) that, so we don't feel like anything is wrong. It just freaked us both out for a moment. Not a good feeling.
