Search for Milkweed

Some of us in the Fox family have been a little upset lately. You see, the beloved caterpillars have run out of milkweed leaves and have disappeared. There have not been any buddies to come out and say good morning to. No buddies to hold every single time that we leave, go outside, think of outside. It's been a sad couple of days. Until today. We discovered that one of our beloved and much loved buddies was starting to build it's chrysalis. Phew.

Since we knew that they were back and would soon be laying eggs, we decided that we needed some more milkweed (with leaves). Apparently milkweed is a hot commodity in San Diego so the first nursery that we went to was sold out. Until Tuesday. Oh no. A certain someone was not exactly happy with this development. You see, we knew the caterpillars were back, but we had nothing to feed them. If we didn't get the milkweed today, our buddies would not ever ever come back. Ever.
Luckily there is more than one nursery in San Diego and we were able to find some more. I think I am going to have to propagate a few more plants myself. I guess the 5 plants that we currently have is not enough. At least, not enough for our little monarch whisperer.

After spending some time at the park climbing trees we came home to find our buddy had built his chrysalis and would soon be a beautiful butterfly.

A certain someone was quite excited about this. Jayno was too, she just wasn't sure exactly what she was meant to be excited about. Notice the underwear on backwards yet again.
