Out on the playdeck (the playroom that is outside on the deck), we have a table that was once used for sand and water, but since both of those make such a mess, we call the table a sensory table and fill it with beans, pasta...whatever. Last week Teigue and I headed to the store and bought up a bunch of rice and dyed it black, red, orange and yellow. It was supposed to be just black and orange, but working with food coloring and a 3 year old can be some what tricky. Especially with something as porous as rice and using something as fun as liquid food coloring. We love this table, and play in it quite often. Although today may be the last day of the rice. We have discovered that it creates quite a mess (rice is quite fun to throw and drop through the cracks to the deck below). Since it is set to rain this evening, and our little table has no lid (and I need an excuse to dump the rice), I think tomorrow we may fill our little table with something else. Hopefully I can find something that doesn't attract critters and doesn't slip through deck cracks very easily.
