Pumpkins

The night started with Brady helping Jayno and I was working with Teigue. We told the kids that they had to draw shapes on the pumpkins so that it resembled a face. Teigue drew a circle where the eye should go and I said, "What a great eye!". Nope. It was a shark. Another eye, or so I thought. Nope caterpillar. Hummm...
I start carving Teigue's design. At this point Teigue moves over to Brady's lap and declares that his pumpkin is now Jayno's and the one that Brady designed is his. Stella, of course, agrees with this. He basically noticed that Brady's was more of the traditional jack-o-lantern. Whatever. I like Teigue's better.

Monday

Busy day. Jayno went pee 5 times on the potty today. 5 times!!! Once was at swim class- where she could have gone in the pool! So excited. We found a new park with a phenomenal view- Kate Sessions Park in PB. And to end the day (and waste some time waiting for Brady to get home from a travel day from hell) we threw ice off the deck and played in the cornstarch which is thankfully almost all gone.

Little Lady

When Jayno was a little lady we tried and tried and begged and begged for her to snuggle with us. Laying on the couch with a sleeping little lady is the most wonderful thing in the whole wide world. Unfortunately for us, Jayno just wasn't a big fan. She would fall asleep every now and then on me, but we never got the true newborn snuggle monster that we had with Teiguee. Luckily for us, Jano just seems to have been a late bloomer. You see, the last 2 days in a row!! Janyno has decided that the most perfect place to fall asleep is either on Brady or myself. Oh how wonderful it is to have a perfect little lady and her warm sweet breath breathing on you as she sleeps on your chest.

And yes, I realize this last picture is not of her sleeping on me (kind of hard to do when you are home alone and the camera is in a far away place) but she looked so cute with her butt sticking up in the air. I once read somewhere that you still have babies in the house as long as they sleep with their little bums in the air. Hopefully she sleeps like this for a long time. I'm not ready for her to be a big girl yet...even though she thinks she is one. A moment before she found her way in to this position she opened her eyes and said "Wuv Daddy." and promptly rolled over and fell back asleep. Love love her.

Being a Boy

Today was like most Sundays here at the Fox house. We woke up late, watched some cartoons, chilled out. We did however find some new fun things to do. We discovered our driveway is the perfect slope for racing dirt and flower petal filled trucks (the dirt truck went the furthest and fastest).

And Mommy and Daddy's bed is the most wonderful place to practice flying. A very important skill that is very much needed if one is going to be a true superhero (as someone in this house feels he will be).

Saturday after coming home from breakfast we saw that the wings had developed. While looking online to see how long it would take for the butterfly to emerge...

Swim Lessons

Check out what the kids can do:

He then swam to the other side of the pool.

This is all she wants to do. She even sweet talks another instructor to let her jump while she is waiting for her turn from her instructor. She can also swim from the middle of the pool (with help). Both kids are doing so well at their lessons, and having so much fun in the process.
Next year, surfing lessons.

Day Out With Jayno

My little lady and I headed to the zoo today. I had meant to go there to train for my walk, but the lady had different ideas. I must make a correction to my post about the Wild Animal Park. When I said that all members of the Fox family under the age of five do not like seeing animalswhile at the zoo, I should have said that all members under five that are male or with their brothers do not like seeing animals. Jayno on her own- the only thing that we do is check out animals. Even if Mommy needs to walk and train.
We actually had a very informative and fun time at the zoo. We learned that there are 2 tribes of gorillas that live at the zoo and each tribe comes out every other day. In my 400,000 times at the zoo, I never learned nor heard of this. We only learned this because the tribe that was out today was so so active (more than I have ever seen the gorillas before) and basically freaking out. They were like this because apparently a member of the other tribe was taken away to get implanted with fertility drugs. Since they knew someone was missing, they were all in a tizzy and running around their enclosure. I actually thought the silverback was going to charge the glass at one point. It was pretty cool (in a scary sort of way).
We also learned that our favorite orangutan, Clyde, only comes out in the afternoon because his son is challenging him for the head spot. Now we know why we haven't seen Clyde very often in the last couple months.
So we learned all that, saw both pandas awake, kissed some statues, said hi to our favorite baby takin and laid down on the sidewalk from exhaustion. Pretty fun day.

Shadow

Today I noticed something that has actually been going on for a while, but for some reason today it was more pronounced. Or maybe because we were stuck inside on account of some nasty green stuff coming out of little noses, I was just paying closer attention to how the kids were acting. In between making some cookies, playing in the cornstarch and water table and planting a sprouted sweet totato (yes, totato), I noticed that Teigue has a complete and total shadow named Stella.
Everything that Teigue does, Jayno needs to do as well. Teigue makes cookies, Stella also needs to make cookies (they were delicious, too). Teigue sits, as does Stella. Sippy of hot cocoa on head, guess who else has a sippy of cocoa as a hat? It's so stinking cute (and I know that Teigue loves it as well) and so silly how she does every single thing that Teiguee does. It's so sweet how much she idolizes her brother, how much she absolutely loves him.
Good thing that Teigue is a good kid and she isn't learning any bad habits..

Monarch Whisperer

While our buddy that is safe and sound in his chrysalis stage has still not finished it's metamorphosis, we currently have some monarchs flying around the yard. Could they be Teigue's old buddies? No idea. What I do know is that Teigue is a Monarch Whisperer and they love him. I came outside this afternoon to find that he had one perched on his hand, and it had been there for quite some time. Of course after I ran in to get the camera and took one picture, the monarch decided that it was time away. At least I was able to take one.

Sunday Funday

My lovely independent not quite 2 year old daughter did something today that I have been fearing would happen one day, but I had no idea it would be this soon. She did something that Teigue still has no interest in doing. She dressed herself. Not just dressed herself...She picked out her own clothes. And had to wear them out of the house. I was the parent at the park today that got the stares from the other parents and the, "Oh, isn't she cute." comments. What they were really thinking was, "Wow! What fashion sense that little lady possesses! What such use of colors and patterns! And at such a young age!". Don't believe me? This is what she had to wear out of the house.

Need a closer look? Check out the yellow polka dot shorts, lime green and orange baby legs and purple and pink starred sneakers.

Oh my little lady. How I love thee.

Spider Teiguee Day 2

Again we were greeted with cries of "Spider Teiguee! To the rescue!" as he ran through the house to save someone than existed only in the land of Teigue. I mean Spider Teiguee. He even told everyone at Finn's party over Skype that he was no longer Teigue, he was now Spider Teiguee. So, it's official. My little man is gone. At least I have a powerful super hero in his place.
Although he has the name and the powers, he just didn't have the color. Thankfully he has markers and a water table. What a powerful combination that makes.

Santee Lakes

Today we hung out with one our favorite families- the Alexanders. We don't get to see them as much as we would like but when we do we always have a great time. Today we headed up to Santee Lakes and hung out at their new little motor home. Hopefully they will camp up there quite often because we had a great time (hint...hint...)
4021428664_db2807dd72.jpg
We showed Emma the fun that is fishing.
4020670327_2c0af5278c.jpg
We of course needed to go swimming in the slimy not so nice smelling water.
Stayed clean...for a second..(Someone dressed herself today. Notice that the dress is on backwards)
And had so much fun taking water from the brook and pouring it on the walkway. We could have stayed there all day long.

New Member Of The Family

We were informed today that the Teiguee that we have known for almost 4 years no longer exists. We now have a new member, Spider Teiguee. He has some crazy super powers that make all other's powers moot. He is stronger than Superman, faster than The Flash, has cooler toys than Batman. He also only answers to Spider Teiguee...call Teigue all day long and you will be ignored. One call of Spider Teiguee and he will come running, with sticky webs flying out of his palms.

Everyone, please meet Spider Teiguee.

Wild Animal Park

Today we headed on up to Escondido and hung out at the Wild Animal Park. Although we always have so much fun when we go up there, we tend not to go very often since it is about 40 minutes north of here. With so many fun things to do in town, driving 40 minutes to go play seems kind of silly to us. But last night Teigue announced he wanted to go to Wild Animal Park, so this morning we headed on up there and spent the day. What did we do in the 3 hours that we were there?
We found a tree trunk that looked like a Triceratops.
P1030186

Overloved some deer.
P1030209

Attempted to pop the Balloon Safari ride.

And made funny faces while eating ice cream.

So, you may be thinking- the Wild Animal Park must have some sort of animals other than deers, right? Why yes, there are a ton of animals at the Park. Elephants, one of which is a teeny tiny baby one, gorillas, lions, giraffes, tigers... It seems if your last name is Fox and you are under 4, your main mission when heading to any sort of zoo is to avoid the animals altogether, unless it is a duck that just happens to be in the brook that you are throwing your leaves in to. Even when your mom is begging and pleading to go see the baby. Nope. No animals allowed. But, lots of giggles and fun is allowed, so I guess today was a successful mission.
