When I was a little girl, I lived in an apartment where the downstairs was laid out in a perfect square- the dining room and living room were one large room, which was next to the kitchen and a long hallway ran from the living room end to the kitchen. So, you could walk around from kitchen, dining room, living room, hallway, kitchen...or in my case as a 4 or 5 year old, roller skate while wearing a gray CHiPS helmet and an afghan tied around my neck as a cape. I would do this quite often and, as I raced around my track, I would wave and, in a very cool way, point at all my imaginary fans that I passed along the way. As I have no pictures of my super roller skating alter ego, I have to just go with the picture that I have in my brain. So, basically, I looked really really cool.
So, why am I talking about what I did as a preschooler in a blog about my kids? Well, today I was given a tiny glimpse of what I possibly looked like through my little lady. Little Jayno decided that she would wear Teigue's Buzz Lightyear glasses while running through the house yelling "To da wescue!" with only a diaper on and her beautiful long flowing mullet racing behind her. She then jumped on her bike and attempted to pedal to fight the crime that she was witnessing throughout the patio. Unfortunately since she only knows how to ride backwards right now, the bike was not an effective mode of transport. Instead she decided that she would swim to help those in need. So, my little mullet flowing diaper wearing Jayno Lightyear was out on the patio in all her glory saving the day while practicing her breast stroke. And I, for the first time since having her, saw a tiny bit of me in her personality. Well, besides the stubborn, strong willed, needs to be in control side of her personality, that is. I think she needs a afghan cape, don't you?
oh my gosh. i love this...
ReplyDeletegreat story!
Thanks. It's hilarious watching her run around. I think it's the mullet that makes it even funnier!
